Christmas Trees

See the work being done at the farm in May. They are levelling out the roads, bird sticks are going up, our trees are starting to "flush"............
Prince Albert is traditionally believed to have the first Christmas Tree to England in 1840 however legend suggests that it was the young Queen Charlotte.....
April is a very busy month in the Christmas tree growing calendar. This is the month when the new trees are planted. Other jobs in April include fencing and preparation of new plantations and fertilising our established trees.
It is believed that in 1536 Martin Luther (the religious reformer) brought the first ever Christmas Tree indoors
March at Santa Fir is a very busy month for the boys as they are looking for new land and preparing this and some of our current plantations ready for planting.
Storm Doris didn't last long but she certainly left her impression on Santa Fir
Ever wondered what happens to the trees still sitting in our retail at the end of the busy Christmas Season.

Over the next few weeks I would like to take you through the many stories of the origin of the Christmas Tree. It goes back much further than you imagine, if not quite as we know it today.
